Iliana Ivanova, Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth, officially launched the New European Bauhaus Academy today at the New European Bauhaus Festival in Brussels. The Academy is a flagship initiative of the European Year of Skills that will give a decisive push for new skills and education in the construction sector. Its launch is a major step towards boosting skills in sustainable construction and accelerating the green transformation of the building sector.

The Academy will combine the New European Bauhaus values of sustainability, aesthetics and inclusiveness, and support the implementation of the European Green Deal, accelerating the fair and green transformation of the building sector.

Over the next two years, the Academy will bring together educational and training professionals and connect five local and regional hubs across Europe. These hubs will offer tailored and high-quality co-created training services, curricula, and programmes on sustainable construction solutions via a digital platform. The project will be implemented by the NEB Academy Alliance, led by the Slovenian University of Primorska and comprising 14 partners from Austria, Belgium, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Spain, and Sweden.

The NEB Festival takes place from 9 to 13 April in Brussels. More information is available online.
